What's changing

Telstra's Teams calling service closes on 30 November 2026.

Telstra Calling for Office 365 (TCO365) connects Microsoft Teams to the phone network so your staff can make and receive calls in Teams. Telstra is withdrawing it, and every organization still using it has to move to another way of calling from Teams.

  • Since 30 August 2026, existing customers can't add services, make changes or recontract.
  • On 30 November 2026, the service ends.
  • For Teams calling, Telstra now offers Microsoft Operator Connect with Telstra.
  • Numbers can only be ported to another provider while the service is active, so moves need to start before 30 November.

The dates are in Telstra's Our Customer Terms for Telstra Calling for Office 365. You have to change either way, so it's worth comparing before you're moved.

Your options

Operator Connect or Direct Routing: two ways to keep calling from Teams.

Microsoft doesn't sell its own Calling Plans in Australia, so the choice is between Operator Connect, which is Telstra's replacement, and Direct Routing with a provider such as Enfonica. They differ in how you pay and how much your provider is connected to your Microsoft 365.

Prices exclude GST. Telstra's prices are for its small business plan (Individual Line), from Telstra's published Adaptive Collaboration terms, checked 14 October 2026; enterprise customers may be quoted differently. Microsoft sells Teams Phone Standard for AU$15 per user a month. Which option costs less depends on how much your team calls, and that's what your written comparison works out.

Why Direct Routing with Enfonica

Keep Teams. Take control of the phone line behind it.

Pay per channel, not per user

A channel is one simultaneous call, and channels are shared by all your users. Forty Teams users who share 10 channels cost $100 a month, plus calls. As your headcount grows, the saving grows with it.

FAQ

TCO365: common questions.

When does Telstra Calling for Office 365 end?

On 30 November 2026. Since 30 August 2026, existing customers haven't been able to add services, make changes or recontract.

What happens if we do nothing?

Telstra's terms say the service will no longer be provided from 30 November 2026. Your numbers can only be ported to another provider while the service is still active, so start your move well before then.

Do we have to move to Telstra Operator Connect?

No. Operator Connect with Telstra is Telstra's replacement, but you can choose another provider. Direct Routing with Enfonica keeps your staff calling from Teams, with the same Teams Phone licence.

Can we keep our phone numbers?

Yes. You can port your numbers from Telstra to Enfonica, and we handle the process for you with zero service interruptions. See how number porting works.

Operator Connect vs Direct Routing: what's the difference?

Both connect Teams to the phone network. With Operator Connect, you accept an operator in the Teams admin center, and the operator uploads your numbers to your tenant. With Direct Routing, your IT team or MSP connects Teams to a provider's SIP trunk, and Enfonica never needs admin access to your tenant.

How much does Direct Routing with Enfonica cost?

$10 per channel a month, plus calls. A channel is one simultaneous call, and channels are shared by all your users, so you pay for the calls you actually make rather than a fee for every user. Call rates are on our pricing page.

Who sets up Direct Routing?

Your IT team or MSP, because the setup happens in your Microsoft 365. Our Teams Direct Routing guide walks through it, and our support team can help with the Enfonica side.
