When does my invoice arrive?
Invoices are issued at the start of each month for the previous month's charges. Enfonica Billing emails each one to your invoice recipients, with the PDF attached. The subject looks like "Enfonica invoice for September 2026". You can also download every invoice in the Console under Billing > Invoices.
The billing month follows UTC, the international time standard. In Australia, it starts at 10 AM on the 1st in Brisbane, or 11 AM in Sydney and Melbourne during daylight saving. So a call made at 9 AM on 1 October in Brisbane is on the September invoice.
Each invoice is dated the last day of the month it covers. With standard 14-day payment terms, it's due on the 14th of the following month. Some accounts have different terms in their agreement. The due date is always printed on the invoice.
Prepaid accounts get a monthly invoice too. It's a record of the month's charges, which your prepaid balance has already paid for.
What's on the first page?
The first page has everything you need to check and pay the invoice.
| Section | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Invoice details | The invoice number, invoice date, and due date, your billing account ID, and your PO number if your account has one. |
| Total this invoice | The month's fees and charges, plus GST for billing accounts in Australia. |
| Statement | Your account balance, from the opening balance to the amount to pay. |
| Payment details | The BPAY Biller Code and reference number (Ref) for your billing account, and a reminder that you can pay or set up automatic payments in the Console. |
Why does the amount to pay include an earlier amount?
The Statement shows your whole account, not only this month. It works like a bank statement, in four lines:
- Opening balance. The balance on the first day of the month. It's anything still owing from earlier invoices, or a credit if you'd paid ahead.
- Payments received. Payments during the month, which are subtracted.
- This invoice. The month's total, which is added.
- Please pay. The total you owe. If you owe nothing, this line is called Closing balance, and a credit is marked CR.
When Please pay is more than This invoice, the difference is an amount from earlier invoices that hasn't been paid yet. To bring your account up to date, pay the Please pay amount.
What's on the pages after that?
The pages after the first list every charge for the month, so you can see exactly where the total comes from.
- Charges are grouped by project, each with its own subtotal. Each project is shown by its project ID. It's the same ID that's in the Console's web address when that project is open.
- Within each project, charges are grouped by product, such as Cloud Voice, Cloud SMS, and Phone Numbers. Each line shows what the charge is for, the usage (for example, minutes, messages, or months), and the amount.
- Charges that belong to the whole account rather than one project are listed under Account charges. An example is a plan set up for your account. If a charge covers a period, the dates are shown next to it.
- Credits and Payments received are listed in their own sections.
Totals can differ slightly from the sum of the lines, because each line and each total is rounded separately.
When are monthly fees charged?
Monthly fees are charged in advance, for the month ahead. For phone numbers and SIP plans, that month starts on the day you added them.
- Phone numbers are charged on the day the number is activated, and then on the same day each month while you have it.
- SIP plans with included calls, such as the Starter and Business plans on a SIP domain, are charged when you choose the plan. You get the plan's included calls for one month, and the plan is charged again on the same day each month.
For example, a number added on 28 September shows a full month's fee on the September invoice, covering 28 September to 27 October. Its next fee is charged on 28 October and appears on the October invoice. This is why a service you've had for only a few days can show a whole month's fee.
Other recurring fees, such as a plan set up for your account, can follow a different cycle. The invoice shows the period each of these charges covers. If you can't tell how a fee was worked out, contact us.
How are calls and messages charged?
Calls and messages are charged by usage, at the rates on our pricing page.
- Outgoing calls are charged when they're answered. The rate depends on the number you call and the caller ID you call from.
- Incoming calls are charged by the type of number that receives the call. For some numbers, the charge also depends on the type of phone that called.
- Calls to most destinations are billed to the second, with a minimum charge per call. A few destinations are billed in 60-second increments. For the list, see Cloud Voice billing in the docs.
- SMS are charged per segment. A long message, or one with emoji or special characters, can use several segments. To learn how segments are counted, see Why is my SMS billed as more than one message?
- Text-to-speech and transcription are charged by usage too.
Is GST included?
The prices on our website exclude GST. For billing accounts in Australia, GST at 10% is added to each invoice and shown as its own line under Total this invoice.
Why is my invoice higher than usual?
When an invoice is higher than you expected, it's almost always for one of these reasons:
- An earlier invoice is still unpaid, so Please pay includes it. See Why does the amount to pay include an earlier amount?
- You added a number or plan during the month, and its first monthly fee was charged in advance.
- You used more. If rates haven't changed, a higher total usually means more calls, more minutes, or more SMS segments than last month.
Where can I see the calls and messages behind a charge?
The calls and messages you're charged for are listed in the Console, one project at a time. Open the project, and then go to Cloud Voice > Calls for calls or Cloud SMS > Messages for SMS. Then filter by date. To download records for a whole month, or across every project, see Download your call and SMS records.
What if a charge looks wrong?
Contact us with the invoice number and the charge you're asking about, and we'll look into it. Our terms ask for invoice disputes to be raised before the invoice's due date, so contact us as soon as you notice.
An invoice can't be changed or reissued after it's issued. If a correction is due, it's applied as a credit on a later invoice and listed under Credits.
To add a PO number, change who receives invoices, or get your charges as a CSV file, see Get invoice copies and change who receives invoices.
